Responsible Play

Quad Aces is a play-money app. No real money is involved. Even so, time spent playing card games can become a problem if it interferes with daily life.

Warning signs to watch for

  • Playing longer than you planned, session after session.
  • Chasing losses, even though the chips have no cash value.
  • Skipping sleep, work, or time with people to keep playing.
  • Feeling restless, irritable, or anxious when you're not playing.
  • Hiding how much time you spend playing from people close to you.

Healthy-play tips

  • Set a time limit before each session and stick to it.
  • Treat playing as entertainment, not as a way to make money.
  • Do not play when stressed, upset, or under the influence.
  • Take regular breaks.
  • If you stop having fun, stop playing.

If you're worried about someone else

Compulsive play doesn't only affect the player. If someone close to you is showing the warning signs above, the same helplines listed at the top of this page take calls from concerned family and friends, not just players. Gam-Anon (a Gamblers Anonymous program for family members) is another option worth looking into.
